A thirty-minute panga ride from Loreto will take us to Coronado Island, a beautiful inactive volcano ready to be explored.
With infinite natural resources around the island, we can approach a colony of friendly sea lions, a variety of fish and marine species. In their respective seasons, we can find turtles, blue footed boobies and even whales of different species.
Beautiful diving spots, such as Playa Blanca, invite us to immerse ourselves in the turquoise waters of Coronado to see all the marine life it has around it.
Comfortable trails that start at sea level, allow us to hike on sand and volcanic rocks that in their paths show remains of coral and mollusks fossils, proof that Coronado was once underwater.
At the highest point of the island (200 m above sea level) we find the crater of the volcano; a landscape known as malpais, in which cacti, torote, palo adan and matacora predominate.
And of course, we can´t forget to mention the incredible panoramic view of the National Park and Sierra La Giganta from this point.
Coronado Island is one of the most frequented places in Loreto and it should´nt be left out from your to-do-list.
